Workplace Violence, Harassment & Domestic Violence Workplace harassment is a course of comments or conduct against a worker in a workplace that is known to be unwelcome. Types of workplace harassment include Sexual Harassment, Teasing, Intimidation, Offensive Jokes, display or circulation of offensive pictures or materials; unwelcome, offensive gestures, spreading rumors and stereotyping could also be considered harassment. Harassment may also relate to a form of discrimination as set out in the Ontario Human Rights Code. Workplace Violence occurs in a workplace and is the exercise of physical force by a person against a worker that causes, or could cause, physical injury to the worker; an attempt to exercise physical force against a worker, that could cause physical injury to the worker; a statement or behavior that is reasonable for a worker to interpret as a threat to exercise physical force against the worker, that could cause physical injury to the worker. Workplace harassment will not be tolerated. Everyone in the workplace must be dedicated to preventing workplace Harassment/Violence. Workers are encouraged to report any concerns around Violence or Harassment.
